What's a good place to go to (either a store or online) for a really good subwoofer for a home ent. system?

I was testing out some of the ones in Best Buy myself (plugging in the Audio In cord to my iPhone instead of the store’s demo track source), and while they were mostly OK, they weren’t as bassy as I’d hoped. What speaker system would you recommend for having a good subwoofer, and being nice but not ~too~ expensive?

I have a question about replacing my home system subwoofers and powering them?

We had two 12" subwoofer.
The amp is a 8ohm/16ohm home audio amp and is 370watts.
We were thinking about getting 2 12" pioneer 1200max 400rms subwoofer at 4-ohm.

Will this be okay to run these 400rms subwoofer at 4-ohm on the 8/16-ohm house amp?

Best way to get audio from TV/Blu Ray to home theater system?

My tv has left and right audio outs, don’t think that’s good. Has coaxial out, don’t know anything about that. The blu ray player and the satellite box have optical out, which I don’t know much about. The home theater has optical in, right and left in, and coaxial in. Which is best for a home theater system that has 6 speakers and a subwoofer?

Powered Subwoofer question?

it sounds great but ones i put the volume of my amp to louder levels (about 3/4) the sub volume lowers and produces alot less bass then when the amp is at lower volumes. anyone know why?

also there are 2 things in the back of the sub that i dont know what they do.

1.) Low Pass

2.) Phase Switch

can anybody tell me what these things do?

Subwoofer cable or regular RCA?

Now i just need to connect the subwoofer to my "sub out" line on my amp. i know a regular rca cable will get the job done but i also know that there is a subwoofer cable you can buy.

my question is: is the subwoofer out cable worth the extra money? instead of a standard rca (which i have alot in my house), does it make a big diffrence using one of those subwoofer out cables?

How to change a Passive Subwoofer to a Powered subwoofer in a Phillips Home Theater System?

I currently have a 1000 watt Phillips home theater system and would like to get rid of the passive subwoofer and put in a powered subwoofer. The phillips system does not have component audio outputs. It only has the two small speaker wires that go to the subwoofer. Please let me know how I can hook up a powered subwoofer to this system.

A Home Subwoofer build…..?

Living oversea’s for now, and need some insight from someone. I was looking at the Cerwin Vega Sub’s they have, and notice that the one i wanted is REALLY heavy!!!! I have a 70lb limit, so i am in need of assistance. Could i build my own Home Subwoofer out of a normal Car box and a Subwoofer of choice. 15" is where im lookin at. I know there is an ohm’s difference when it comes to home audio equipment. Is there any way i can by pass it, and find myself an amp which i can then install on the side of the box. Im just a little confused, because 5 years ago. I hooked up 2 15’s "Zues" to an average home stereo system and they pumped alot of bass. Of course the stereo had an output for a subwoofer, so it worked well. But it looks like im stuck with an RCA jack on the back of my kenwood. Any suggestions??
