How do I connect my laptop to my home theater system to listen to the music through the theater speakers?

I want to listen to Yahoo Radio stations on my louder home theater system instead of the smaller laptop speakers. I have an Onkyo receiver that has surround sound speakers and I would like to set up my computer to play music from online radio stations at a party I am having. Is this possible?

What is the first step in installing a home theater? I plan on including:

Seat risers
Projector
motorized projection screen
theater lighting
surround sound
media closet
Acoustics for sound (not sound proofing).

How do I select the best home theater system?

My boyfriend just bought a plasma TV and I’d like to buy him an home theater system but I don’t have a clue where to begin. I’ve been trying to research online but it seems like there’s so many details to figure out – how many watts do I need, do I need a new DVD player with it, do I want to buy it piece by piece or HTIB? Ahhh. I’d like to spend somewhere around 0, max 0 but I don’t know if this is realistic for a good system and don’t want to get him a cruddy one just for the sake of getting one. I know he’s really interested in the ones that have a rear wireless speaker – and I don’t know too much more than that. Anyone knowledgeable out there with some good recommendations, a place I should begin my research or willing to have some dialouge with me about the best systems and what I should look for? I think I’ll eventually go to CC or BB but I’d like to be armed with some info first. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

How come home theater receivers only seem to go up to 110 watts per channel total and not ever higher?

I occassionally gander at home theater receivers now and then for the past three or four years and every time I look each one has no more than 110watts per channel output (a lot even have less than 100). How come they don’t ever go up to say 200watts per channel or something? Or have some type of home theater amplifier? Wondering if anybody has any input and it would be greatly appreciated.

How can I hook up a home theater system to work with the regular tv?

I have an LG 42PG20 Plasma tv and an LG LHT854 home theater system. I do not use a cable box to receive my cable. I get the sound ok when I watch DVDs but not when watching TV. I do have the HDMI cables but what am I missing? Any help would be great.

My family is thinking about moving into a new house with an unfinised basement, but we plan on finishing it. We want to make it partially a home theater type room, with a nice sound system. What would be some good ideas for insulating the ceiling or something so the bass doesn’t rattle the whole house?

I am looking to replace an old Sony home theater receiver. I am looking for one with these certain features: 4 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI output, at least 4 optical inputs, video upconversion. Could a home security system interfere with my home theater system?

I recently installed a wireless home security systems (ADT), and now I am noticing a clicking emanating from my home theater system. I am wondering if it is caused by the new security, and if so, how can I fix it?

A bit of detail on the clicking: it is similar to, but not the same as, the phone interference caused by certain (GSM) phones.

For a home theater in my basement, should I place sconce lighting on either side of my projector screen?

I’m setting up a home theater in my basement (just finished framing). I plan to put 2 sconces on both side walls. But I was wondering if I should put a sconce on each side of the projector screen itself? Is having some dimmed light next to the screen good for viewing or is it better to keep the screen area as dark as possible?
