How do I connect my laptop to my home theater system to listen to the music through the theater speakers?

I want to listen to Yahoo Radio stations on my louder home theater system instead of the smaller laptop speakers. I have an Onkyo receiver that has surround sound speakers and I would like to set up my computer to play music from online radio stations at a party I am having. Is this possible?

What are the best in-ceiling home speakers for the money?

I am building a house and the contractor has suggested Sonance Symphony speakers for the in-ceiling home audio system. Sonance apparently only deals through installers and all of their products available from online vendors are not covered by their warranty. I am still considering Sonance as they appear to be very high end speakers (although expensive). I would like to know the best in-ceiling audio speakers and tuner for a budget of 00-00 (not including installation). I will need to cover 3 rooms and a back porch.

When I play a DVD, I'm getting the audio through my new home theater receiver/speakers, but no picture! Why?

Everything seems to be connected properly between the the receiver (component video cords, L and R audio and Video cords, Digital Coax Audio), but still no pic. Anything simple I might be overlooking?

Also, as an aside, what do the component video connections do that the L and R Audio and Video connectors do?

What is the first step in installing a home theater? I plan on including:

Seat risers
Projector
motorized projection screen
theater lighting
surround sound
media closet
Acoustics for sound (not sound proofing).

Home audio question. Best floorstanding speakers?

Putting together a middle of the road home theater system. TV is handled. Now onto the audio. Already bought an Onkyo AV receiver spent 500 bucks and love it so far. Am still using the same speakers I have had since I was 15. Amazingly they still sound OK. Question is on a good brand. I include the price of the receiver in this question to kind of set the bar. No since putting 3000 dollar B&W speakers with a 500 dollar amp. Any feedback on good speakers in this range. Examples… Yamaha, Klipsch, Polk, Cerwin Vega, JBL, KEF??? Any other I have not heard of. When looking these up on the web It gets a little ridiculous.

How do I select the best home theater system?

My boyfriend just bought a plasma TV and I’d like to buy him an home theater system but I don’t have a clue where to begin. I’ve been trying to research online but it seems like there’s so many details to figure out – how many watts do I need, do I need a new DVD player with it, do I want to buy it piece by piece or HTIB? Ahhh. I’d like to spend somewhere around 0, max 0 but I don’t know if this is realistic for a good system and don’t want to get him a cruddy one just for the sake of getting one. I know he’s really interested in the ones that have a rear wireless speaker – and I don’t know too much more than that. Anyone knowledgeable out there with some good recommendations, a place I should begin my research or willing to have some dialouge with me about the best systems and what I should look for? I think I’ll eventually go to CC or BB but I’d like to be armed with some info first. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

What's a good place to go to (either a store or online) for a really good subwoofer for a home ent. system?

I was testing out some of the ones in Best Buy myself (plugging in the Audio In cord to my iPhone instead of the store’s demo track source), and while they were mostly OK, they weren’t as bassy as I’d hoped. What speaker system would you recommend for having a good subwoofer, and being nice but not ~too~ expensive?

Using Car speakers for home audio?

Hello community,

So here is my question. I am highly interested in car audio, and would like to use some comps from an old setup I had. I have 4x Alpine Type S 6.5" coax that I plan to build individual boxes for. I will power them using the an old HU that came from that same old build. My question is how to power the HU so that I can power the speakers using the internal 25×4rms amp in HU.

I could get a motorcycle 12v battery, and wire a small 12vdc transformer in parrellel to it to keep it charged. However, what would I use as the transformer.
